Iserlohn Kangaroos: Iserlohn Kangaroos compete against Vechta with an almost full squad

On Saturday, the Iserlohn Kangaroos will meet Rasta Vechta II in the Barmer 2nd Basketball Bundesliga at an unusual time. Tip-off is already at 3 p.m. in the Rasta Dome, head coach Dennis Shirvan was moderately enthusiastic: “I don’t know when I’ll have the last I played so early on a Saturday. But we have to accept that.”

Vechta is currently in fifth place, while Iserlohn is in eleventh place. How the Vechtaer set up their second representation for the weekend is unclear. However, there will most likely be players from the ProA squad. In the young team, however, the oldest is one of the most dangerous. Point guard Kevin Smit has ProA experience, is the second best scorer (17.5 points on average) and the best assist provider (3.7) on the Rasta team.

The best scorer is forward JJ Culver, who has a slightly better average (17.7) than Smit. “We shouldn’t let the rest of the team play above their average, we have to control the game,” explains Dennis Shirvan, who considers the opponent “not a bad team”. Despite the current table situation, the head coach sees good chances for his protégés.

This is also due to the improved personnel situation. Many players came back during this training week, and Boksic and Prostran were also able to train fully again. “The boys are physically fit again,” confirms Shirvan, another player is also coming back. “Mathias Groh is gradually coming back to 100%.” This means that the Kangaroos are going to the away game relatively completely, Ben Uzoma and Ruben Dahmen are still left out.

Michael Cubbage is currently the top scorer for the Kangaroos with an average of 27 points, but he has only played one game and has the chance to confirm his average on Saturday. The best scorer with more than one game is Marko Boksic with an average of 12 points, closely followed by guards Samuel Mpacko (11.5) and Toni Prostran (11.2). Mpacko is currently the best Kangaroos ball distributor with an average of 4.7 assists.

“We worked through a lot this week and talked about our mistakes in the last game,” reports head coach Shirvan, who trained intensively and hard with his team. “I’m positive that we’ll play a good game. I don’t see us at 100% yet, but we’re on the right track.” The Iserlohners want to familiarize themselves with their opponents in training before the match day. “It’s also easier for me when I can draw from the full and am not so limited in my options,” Shirvan is happy about the full squad for Saturday.
