Dutch national coach Ronald Koeman has announced his pre-selection for the European Football Championship. Among the 30 names, he has no place for Jurriën Timber, Noa Lang or Joshua Zirkzee, among others. They all have to be absent injured.
The 61-year-old Koeman called up a total of thirty players, including doubts such as Steven Bergwijn, Ryan Gravenberch, Nick Olij and Ian Maatsen. The injured Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer is missing.
PSV player Noa Lang, ex-Club Brugge, is also unable to attend due to an injury. The same applies to Joshua Zirkzee. The ex-Anderlecht striker is now back on track at Serie A revelation Bologna, but he recently suffered another muscle injury.
Marten de Roon was injured on Wednesday for Atalanta in the Italian cup final against Juventus, but is part of the pre-selection.
Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow has recovered just in time. Supporters Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay also seem to be making it to the European Championship after injury problems. Olij and Maatsen have not yet played a single international match.
Koeman must complete his European Championship selection before June 7, but wants to announce his final selection on May 29.
This may consist of a maximum of 26 players. The Dutch team is in a difficult group at the European Championship and will successively meet Poland (June 16), France (June 21) and Austria (June 25).
