(Houston) Houston Astros general manager James Click will not get a new contract, a rather unusual decision that was confirmed by the team on Friday — just six days after winning the World Series.

Click had left the Tampa Bay Rays to join the Astros heading into the 2020 season and seemed increasingly at loggerheads with owner Jim Crane.
Click had indicated Tuesday during the annual meeting of the general managers in Las Vegas that his contract had expired on October 31 and that the situation had not yet been addressed.
He also mentioned that he learned shortly before Wednesday’s press conference that manager Dusty Baker had been renewed for one season by the Astros.
