Hispanics in search of immortality: Adrián Beltré, ‘Kid’ Rodríguez and Johnny Peralta will be present on the Hall of Fame ballot for 2023

batters Carlos Beltrán, Johnny Peralta and pitcher Francisco ‘Kid’ Rodríguez are part of the new Hispanic class that will enter the ballots for the Hall of Fame election Baseball in 2023.

In total there will be 13 players who will join, including Rodríguez, Peralta and Beltrán themselves, all after spending at least ten seasons in the Major Leagues as a minimum requirement in addition to sports merit.

It will be the members of the Baseball Writers Association of North America (BBWAA) who decide if any of them will be elected in the vote scheduled for the month of January 2023.

As to beltranwho stood out for 20 years as a gardener, will opt for a place in immortality after dispatching 435 home runs and stealing 312 bases over 20 years of trajectory.

Perhaps the most difficult task to overcome for voters to consider his career is dealing with his role in the sign-stealing scandal of the 2017 World Series champion Houston Astros.

On the other hand Kid Rodríguez will be another candidate on the ballots for his 437 games saved in his role as closerthe fourth-highest figure in MLB history.

Also, holds the all-time record for saves in a single season with 62achieved in 2008 under the Los Angeles Angels jersey.

He also racked up six seasons of 40 or more saves and posted a 52-53 record with a 2.86 ERA in 948 games, pitching 976 innings striking out 1,142 batters.

His major league campaign was played with the Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles and the aforementioned Angels, all in a 12-year MLB career.

Finally, Peralta played 15 seasons with the Cleveland Indians (today Guardians), in addition to other internships with the Cardinals and Tigers. He had a .267 batting average with 202 home runs and 873 RBIs.

On the ballot, made up of 28 players, there are also other former Latin American players who repeat their candidacy: the Dominicans Manny Ramírez and Alex Rodríguez, the Venezuelans Bobby Abreu and Omar Vizquel and the Curaçao native Andrew Jones.

To achieve direct entry, candidates must be chosen on at least 75% of the ballots cast by members of the Baseball Writers Association.

In the Class of 2022, only the Dominican David Ortiz achieved the necessary votes to enter Cooperstown.
