18:39: Ocon’s car was on fire yesterday after the sprint, the mechanics were changing the engine and some parts. Now his car is being worked on again. On the way to the starting grid, he complained about the brakes.

18:35: In the sprint, we could not complain about the lack of overtaking. In general, however, Interlagos is mostly won from the front row – 16 times from pole position, 13 times from second place. Only 3 times has a driver won here from third place and 6 times from a lower position. The record is held by Hamilton, who won last year after starting from tenth position.

18:29: Since last year, the race has been run under a slightly different name, but if we look at the races at Interlagos as a whole… although it is a traditional grand prix, we have only three winners at the start – Vettel and Hamilton have won here three times, Max Verstappen once.

18:26: Mercedes drivers will be in the first row. First up is George Russell. The team is still aiming for its first win of the year, which is a priority. The secondary goal is second place in the Constructors’ Cup. Mercedes is 36 points behind Ferrari.

18:24: The starting grid for today’s race was determined by the sprint. But there have been changes. Sainz was penalized for a new engine, Alonso received a 5-second penalty for a collision with Ocon and Cunoda will start from the pits after the team fitted him with a different specification front and rear wing – and changed the flooring too.

18:20: Riders go to the starting grid.

18:18: Welcome to the online coverage of the 2022 São Paulo Grand Prix.
