Lukasz Teodorczyck retires from football at the age of 31. The former attacker of Anderlecht and Charleroi has been without a club since this summer and is now hanging on his football boots with regret. “It will take a while to process this,” he posted on Instagram. Nevertheless, Teo has had a great career. Last season he played in the Italian Serie B for Vicenza, at Anderlecht he scored 45 goals in 93 matches and in total he won 19 caps for the Polish national team. With Anderlecht he became national champion and top scorer of Belgium in 2017. The Polish title with Lech Poznan and twice the Ukrainian title with Dinamo Kiev are also on his list of achievements.

“Processing this will probably take a while,” it sounds on Instagram. “I want to write a few words to the fans, the people connected to football and directly to me. The last few years have not gone the way I wanted, I have spent more time elsewhere than on the field. I tried, I fought, but my body doesn’t cooperate with my head and with my character and doesn’t want to give everything. If I can’t give the best of myself then I won’t start, so I have to break it off. I thank all the good people I met on my path. Football has given me a new life.

“It gave me everything, because when I started as a little boy from a small town, all I had was dreams. I’ve worked very hard for what I’ve been able to achieve, experience, see… for what kind of person I am and where I am. There are probably young people reading this, so I address you as well. If you have nothing, don’t feel inferior! Don’t be told you won’t achieve anything! Keep your head up, grit your teeth and fight for your dreams. I did it, so any of you can do it. I’ve always been real, I’ve always been me and I will always be.”
