The German triathletes had no chance at the final of the World Triathlon Championship series in Abu Dhabi.
Jonas Schomburg came in 33rd over the Olympic distance of 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running. Lasse Lührs was 52nd, Valentin Wernz 55th. Johannes Vogel and Lasse Priester did not finish in the heat. Frenchman Léo Bergere secured victory and the overall title.
Olympic champion Kristian Blummenfelt from Norway had to settle for eighth place in the race. Despite the disappointment in the finale, Lührs still made it into the top ten in the classification at the end of the series in ninth place.
