Brooklyn Nets name Jacque Vaughn as new head coach

A little over a week after the sacking of coach Steve Nash, the Brooklyn Nets have named Jacque Vaughn as his successor.

The 47-year-old had recently been in charge of the team on an interim basis, in four games under Vaughn the Nets came to two wins and two losses.

Former pro Vaughn has been an assistant coach in Brooklyn since 2016 and served as head coach for ten games in 2019/20 (7-3). From 2012 to 2015, Vaughn served as the Orlando Magic’s head coach.

The New York-based franchise parted ways with Nash earlier this month. The 48-year-old, who played alongside Dirk Nowitzki for the Dallas Mavericks for a long time, has been the Nets coach since September 2020.
