British auction house sells full sibling 5* eventer Lordships Graffalo for almost 25,000 euros

The auction house The Sovereign successfully sold an embryo on October 28 that is a full brother or sister of Ros Canter’s 5* horse Lordships Graffalo (v. Grafenstolz). The embryo was sold for 21,500 pounds, almost 25,000 euros, and will come into American hands. With the sale of this embryo, the Supreme Sale also made history as it became the first auction house in the UK to ever sell an eventing embryo to the US.

The auction house had an exclusive collection of only ten lots, all of which had CCI5* eventers or 1.60m show jumpers in their pedigree. After an exciting bidding duel, an American buyer got his hands on the full sibling of Lordships Graffalo for £21,500. Under Ros Canter, Lordships Graffalo finished second in Badminton this year and the pair were members of the British team at the World Championships in Pratoni.

5* horse Pencos Crown Jewel

Mother Cornish Queen also brought Pencos Crown Jewel (by Jumbo) who also competes at 5* level with Ros Canter. The mare finished 11th in Burghley this year. Graffalo’s grandmother Cornish Fear ran Badminton and Burghley under Bridget Parker.

‘Step forward for British breeders’

Breeder Pennie Wallace spoke of her involvement with the team at The Sovereign Auction, which organized the Supreme Sale: “You have provided a new and much needed fresh approach for breeders in the UK to get the top quality foals and embryos we produce at to market. A huge step forward for British breeders.”
