BBL: Hamburg Towers concede the fifth bankruptcy in a row in Crailsheim | Sports

The Towers can’t win anymore.

After a good start to the season, the crash followed in November. At the Merlins in Crailsheim, Hamburg’s basketball players conceded the fifth defeat in a row across all competitions with 84:92 (33:53)!

The result is deceptive: The “Trauers” were already 27 points behind – and only started to fight when the game was already lost.

“We were completely beyond good and evil for 26 or 27 minutes,” said coach Raoul Korner (48).

Weak defense, 19 ball losses again, far too many easy chances missed, lousy throw rates. Nothing gets better.

Korner: “These 27 minutes at the beginning, that’s not possible. We have to get this under control very, very quickly. That is my responsibility and I will face it.”

In fact, his team shows zero development. Even a Thanksgiving dinner together didn’t help.

Character and cohesion are there. But there is a lack of quality: Marvin Clark (28) has been a flop so far, James Woodard (28) too inconsistent despite his 20 points. And when director Kendale McCullum (26) – like Saturday – has a bad day, talent Ziga Samar (21/6 ball losses!) is overwhelmed as a substitute.

Woodard: “Now we have to take the next step.” Wednesday in the EuroCup in Paris (8:30 p.m.)?
