The next changes are pending: Because Kenneth Ogbe and Karim Jallow are out “for health reasons”, Joshua Obiesie from the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt will be nominated. This was announced by the German Basketball Federation (DBB) on Monday. Dominic Lockhart had previously failed and was replaced by Lukas Meisner and Lukas Wank.

Germany meets Finland on Friday (7 p.m.) in Bamberg and next Monday (6 p.m.) in Slovenia. A win from two games would be enough to secure a ticket to the 2023 World Cup in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. Of the bronze medalists at the European Championships, Herbert has only three players available in Niels Giffey, Christian Sengfelder and Justus Hollatz. The team is missing the NBA professionals around Dennis Schröder and Franz Wagner as well as the Euroleague professionals from Alba Berlin and FC Bayern Munich.

The current DBB squad at a glance

Robin Christen (ratiopharm Ulm), Max DiLeo (EWE Baskets Oldenburg), Bastian Doreth (medi Bayreuth), Niels Giffey (UCAM Murcia/Spain), Justus Hollatz (CB Breogan/Spain), David Kramer (BB Löwen Braunschweig), Leon scratches (Telekom Baskets Bonn), Dominic Lockhart (Chemnitz 99ers), Jacob Patrick (MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg), Gavin Schilling (Limoges CSP/France), Christian Sengfelder (Brose Bamberg), Joshua Obiesie (Fraport Skyliners)
