Andres Balanta, player of Atletico Tucuman in the Argentine first division, died on the pitch during training on Tuesday, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The cause of this death has not been officially confirmed, but, according to several media, it would be a cardiac arrest.
“Atletico Tucuman regrets to confirm the death of Colombian player Andres Balanta,” the club wrote on Twitter. The Argentine and Colombian football federations also offered their condolences.
Balanta, 22, was Colombian champion with Deportivo Cali in 2021 and had been on loan at Atletico Tucuman since last summer. In 2019, he participated in the U20 World Cup with Colombia.
