Arrested Cañas, formerly of Girona, in an operation against drug trafficking

Former Girona player David Cañas, a native of San Juan d’Aznalfarache (Seville), is one of the fourteen arrested for his alleged membership in a group that was allegedly involved in the transport of drugs by road in cars that were camouflaged so that they had the appearance of commercial vehicles of companies.

The defender, who played in red and white 57 games between 2008 and 2010, is one of the people who allegedly moved the drug, so he is considered one of the people responsible for the “logistics” of this criminal organization dismantled by the Civil Guard, according to sources in the investigation.

Operation Marking, which according to the sources consulted owes its name to this footballer, began in February this year with the identification of a vehicle in which the Civil Guard found a large amount of cash that the driver could not justify his lawful origin.

The police note details that the detainees are accused of drug trafficking, identity theft and money laundering. In total, there are fourteen people, most of whom resided in Andalusia.

The network moved the drug hidden in screen-printed cars that imitated the signage of well-known companies. The drivers even wore the corporate uniform to avoid attracting police attention.
