Ahn Se-young suffered a right knee injury at the Asian Games (AG) held in Hangzhou, China in October last year, and withdrew from the Indian Open quarterfinals in January last year due to right thigh pain. After receiving rehabilitation treatment for over a month, he won the French Open in March, which was his comeback stage, but lost 1-2 to Akane Yamaguchi in the semifinals of the All England Open immediately following. Seong Ji-hyeon, the women’s singles coach of the national team, said, “It is true that Se-young Ahn is under a lot of pressure because the Olympics are not far away,” and added, “There are many concerns about her physical condition, but she has improved significantly in many areas.” Coach Kim Hak-kyun also assured, “It’s not that her skills have declined.
