A mixed but promising start to the season for table tennis players

The ASM Gigean table tennis club takes stock of its start to the season.

“The main sporting objective is to maintain the two flag teams in National 3 Ladies and National 3 Men. Team 2 has the ambition to move up from Regional 1 to Pre-National (PN). For the other teams, the maintenance will be welcome”, says President Jean-Pierre Belmonte. Especially since some up-and-coming and promising young people are integrated into these teams.” Twelve senior teams are aligned this season: two in National 3, two in Regional 1 (R1), one in R2, one in R3, one in Pre-Regional, one in Departmental 1 (D1), one in D2, two in D3 and one in D4.

Honorable places

Fifteen licensees were entered for the individual criteriums. Lysa Buord in N2 finishes in 5th place. Alaïs Massoulier just missed the climb to N2 and finished 2nd. In Departmental 1 seniors, Tristan Hostotte finishes in a very good 1st place and goes up to PN. Dorian Hostotte bows in the final of the juniors and will have to wait before going up to PN.

Honorable places for the other Gigeannais. For the Men’s and Women’s National 3 pennant teams, the start of the season is difficult: two wins and two losses on the Men’s side, one win and three losses on the Women’s side. Last weekend, the men’s team won at home against Val-d’Ozon and the women’s team lost at Versailles.

On Saturday November 19, as part of the 5th day, the Gentlemen will challenge Bourgoin-Jallieu and the Ladies will host Chatenay-Malabry at the Sports Hall.
