World Cup attendees would have to install spy apps

One month after the start of Qatar World Cup 2022 exploits a controversy linked to the mandatory use of two mobile applications that fans will be required to install that they reach Qatari soil.

A report published on the ‘NRK’ site by computer security experts indicates that they are spy tools, in the jargon ‘spyware’.

One of the apparently mandatory mobile tools is Ehteraz, which was developed by the Qatar Ministry of the Interior and is used to track positive Covid-19 cases.

The second is the official application of the World Cup, Hayya. In this case, it offers information on match tickets and is also useful for free travel on the Qatar metro.
