Unlucky Debut for Benjamín Hites in German GT Masters 2024 Season Opener

It was not a good day for Benjamín Hites.

The national driver had an unpleasant debut in the 2024 season of the German GT Masters.

The day at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben had been promising in qualifying.

The German Tim Zimmermann, Hites’ teammate, had achieved second place in the previous classification.

Zimmermann was only surpassed by the Dutch Maxime Oosten.

Hours later the race began, lasting 1 hour, which had complications for the Chilean-German duo.

When Zimmermann was trying to catch up with Oosten, in the fight for first place, he got a flat tire.

The local driver had to enter the pits, losing valuable time, in addition to falling back to 14th place in the competition.

The second half of the race was Benjamín Hites’ turn at the wheel.

The Chilean managed to make up some positions to cross the finish line in 11th place.

The duo of the Dutch Maxime Oosten and the German Leon Köhler (BMW M4 GT3) won the test.

This Sunday will be the second day of competitions.

At 03:15 hrs in Santiago, Hites will go out to look for pole position in the classification.

Later, at 09:15 hrs in our capital, the second race of the weekend will begin.

Hites will be behind the wheel for the first 30 minutes and then hand over control to Zimmermann, who will drive the remaining 30 minutes.

Both drivers will look to have better luck and close the day with a place on the podium.
