VIDEO ⟩ Australian women’s basketball players win World Cup bronze

In the fight for third place, Australia beat Canadian basketball players with a score of 95:65 (27:21, 24:22, 20:11, 24:11).

Lauren Jakosne, who scored 30 points, grabbed seven rebounds and accumulated an efficiency ratio of 35, was definitely the leading scorer for the winners.

Stefa Talbott stood out with 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, while Latvian-born Australian Sāra Blicavs was the third highest scorer in the Australian national team, scoring 12 points in 26 minutes and ten seconds spent on the court.

Kia Nurse’s 19 points did not save Canada from defeat, while Nira Fields and Natalia Achonwa scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.

This is the fourth bronze medal won by the Australian women at the World Cup, but the best achievement of the Australian national team was in 2006, when they managed to win the World Cup after beating Brazil in the final.

The final match of the tournament will be played today, where Chinese and American basketball players will fight for the gold.

In the previous World Cup in 2018, USA basketball players triumphed, having won ten out of 18 tournaments.
