JUARA.NET – UFC welterweight champion, Michael Chiesa, believes the lightweight championship belt will remain in Dagestan for a long time after Islam Makhachev has succeeded in becoming the new king.

Islam Makhachev became the new lightweight champion after defeating Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 on October 22.

Islam Makhachev’s victory made the UFC lightweight championship belt land again in Dagestan after a long time in one of the regions in Russia.

It is Makhachev’s senior, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who had long made the UFC lightweight championship belt residing in Dagestan.

Khabib won in 2018-2020 or almost three years.

Now with Makhachev’s victory and dominance at UFC 280, Michael Chiesa feels the belt will be in Dagestan for a long time.
