The Vallehermoso stadium hosts the Inclusive School Games

The Vallehermoso stadium, in the Madrid district of Chamberí, will host the Inclusive School Games on October 20, organized on the occasion of the election of Madrid as World Capital of Sport 2022.

The event, organized by Fundación Also and sponsored by the City Council, will bring together 600 students with and without disabilities from ten schools in the Community of Madrid, in a day that aims to promote the practice of inclusive sports in schools.

The meeting, which will take place between 10:00 and 14:30, will be an opportunity to “create synergies between ordinary and special education centers”. Among the participating schools in the city of Madrid are the CPEE Joan Miró, the CPEE Francisco del Pozo or the CEIP Parque Aluche, among others, which will attend with students from the 5th and 6th grades of Primary.

Among the sports that will be practiced, which will take place in five delimited areas of the stadium, is adapted cycling, wheelchair basketball, archery, wheelchair skills circuit, boccia and badminton. The day will be complemented with a talk to raise awareness about the possibilities of adapted sport and its impact on the social inclusion of people with disabilities.

The Delegate Councilor for Sport, Sofía Miranda, has highlighted the commitment of the consistory “to support and subsidize inclusive sports”, and has been proud that this year 2022 “so important for Madrid’s sport”, the city of Madrid hosts this competition “which shows that inclusion and the values ​​transmitted by sport improve our society”.
