The school games will reach 42 schools in the province of Palencia

PALENCIA, Oct. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The program of school games that the Provincial Council of Palencia has launched this year will have the participation this year of 42 schools in the province.

The president of the provincial institution, Ángeles Armisén, accompanied by the deputy for Sports, Francisco Pérez, and by the Provincial Sports coordinator, Enrique Hermoso, presented this “important and extensive” program this Friday in which they have invested 162,497 euros.

These games are divided into two large groups, on the one hand, the Competition Program, which includes the modalities of chess, athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, cross-country, futsal, orienteering, rescue and first aid, table tennis and volleyball.

Within this section, and in response to the demand from schools, athletics activity has been reinforced, which will include more days on both indoor and outdoor tracks and cross country, and basketball and handball sports.

In these modalities and in the rest of the sports called, the competitions will be better, sharing scenarios with the students of the capital.

On the other hand, this course has wanted to give special relevance to the Non-Competitive Activities Program. Thus, the XV Sports Narration Contest has just been convened; the contest of this type with the most participation in Castilla y León, surpassing 2,500 works last year.

SPORT AND CULTURE

In February, the new Sport and Culture activity will be launched, through which the province’s schoolchildren will be brought closer to the fascinating world of theatre.

In March, the already consolidated White School Week will take place, which will transfer 200 students to the town of Jaca, so that they can practice the sport of skiing for five days at the Astún station.

In April, the ‘Physical Activity Month’ will be held, with sports promotion days that will bring schoolchildren closer to different modalities, such as basketball, handball, rugby, etc. Likewise, throughout the course, sessions on sports against discrimination will be given, as well as workshops on healthy eating.

In May, taking advantage of the arrival of spring, activities in contact with nature have been scheduled, such as excursions around the province to explore, from the Montaña Palentina to the Canal de Castilla, Natural Rock Climbing Days, the Adventure activity in La Roca , and the Weekend at Sea.

In June the sports season will close with the celebration of the School Olympiad, which takes place over a weekend of recreation and sports, where numerous matches, performances, gymkhanas and evenings are scheduled. Lastly, there will be an introductory chess course, called Enjoy learning to play Chess, which was born last year and had a hundred students.
