The Playoffs – RB Jonathan Taylor expresses optimism about Thursday Night Football presence

The Indianapolis Colts face the Denver Broncos, next Thursday (6), on Thursday Night Football, and could gain an important reinforcement.

Running back Jonathan Taylor is optimistic about the chances of returning to the spotlight in the Indianapolis backfield, despite the sprained ankle he suffered last Sunday in a loss to the Tennessee Titans.

This Tuesday (4), Taylor revealed that he has evolved in the recovery of the injury and hopes to gather conditions to help the Colts, next Thursday (6).

“I really want to play. I’m doing my best to recover. That’s why I do everything possible to speed up the recovery,” said the running back.

In Tuesday’s activity (4), Taylor was seen wearing a protective boot and did not perform field work with the rest of the cast. The good news is that there is no possibility of aggravating the injury, according to the team’s medical staff.

“From what’s been passed on to me, in the conversations we’ve had, it’s not a concern. It is an injury that the player cannot yet carry out work without limitations. We’ll see the next few days and see if he’ll be released on Thursday (6),” said Frank Reich, Colts head coach.

The running back is still dealing with a foot injury, which has limited him in training over the past few weeks. However, according to Taylor, it is not cause for concern.

“I’m still dealing with some foot pain, but nothing that prevents me from making the necessary movements. The central problem is to recover the ankle injury in time for the next match”, concluded Taylor.

In addition to the running back, the Colts may not have linebacker Shaquille Leonard. The highlight of the team’s defense fractured his nose, after a concussion suffered in the match last Sunday (2).

Reich admitted that Leonard’s injury could compromise the linebacker’s presence in the Broncos game. Although the player is released from the concussion protocol, the coach awaits a position from team doctors to determine if Leonard plays on Thursday Night Football.

“He is the heart and soul of our team. I felt sorry for him. He is an athlete who works hard every day and has worked hard to recover. The team’s success means a lot to him,” Reich concluded.

The Indianapolis Colts make a less-than-expected start to the season. The team ranks third in the AFC Southern Division with one win, two losses and one draw.
