The Gantoise bows on the smallest of the gaps against Djurgarden and loses the lead of group F

Thursday evening, La Gantoise lost 0-1 at home against Djurgarden, as part of the 3rd day of the Conference League. The goal of Danielson (38th) allowed the Swedes to do the right thing and take first place in group F on their own.

The Gantoise did not miss an opportunity to make a difference in her own stadium. From the start, An odyssey put the opposing goalkeeper to work on powerful attempts (5th and 17th), and the former Gantois Eriksson answered him with a worked send-off a few centimeters from the skylight defended by Nardi (22e).

The same Eriksson then dropped a ball at the entrance of the six meters on a corner kick, on the head of a Danielson who arrived at full speed to shoot Nardi (0-1, 37th) and cool the white-hot Ghelamco Arena , after opposing supporters entered the stand intended for Ghent during the pre-match to steal banners.

In the second period, there was almost only for La Gantoise. Cuyperswell found by Owusu over the defense, did not frame his attempt against Zetterström (48th) and the free kick of Castro-Montes passed near the frame a few minutes later (54th).

After a bicycle attempt by Cuypers past the post (61st), the Ghent domination was no longer converted into concrete chances, and the Buffalos had to concede defeat against more realistic Swedish visitors.

That result, combined with Molde’s 3-0 win over Shamrock Rovers earlier on Thursday, sees Djurgarden claim top of Group F with 7 points. Molde and La Gantoise are now tied (4 points) ahead of Rovers, last with 1 unit.
