Phil Read, seven-time motorcycle world champion, dies

The former motorcycle racer Phil Read passed away this thursday at 83 years old, leaving a career with which he became a legend on two wheels, with seven world champion titles.

“All the world in MotoGP is saddened by the news of the passing of Phil Reada seven-time world champion who helped elevate our sport to a higher level,” the World Cup organization shared on social media.

The Briton won seven titles between 1964 and 1974. “His impact on motorcycling will never be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Phil,” adds MotoGP on the passing of a Read who was known as ‘The Prince of Speed’ with his 52 wins.
