The FDPTM promotes adapted table tennis together with the “Paramás” association | News

The Peruvian Table Tennis Sports Federation (FDPTM), led by the former Olympic athlete Marisol Espineira, permanently committed to the promotion of national table tennis for all, began an institutional support alliance with the Paramás association chaired by the outstanding Paralympic swimmer Dunia Happy.

Since June 2022, the FDPTM has been supporting the Paramás association by providing its remodeled facilities at the National Stadium and professional tables so that Peruvian para tennis players can train and prepare in the best conditions with a view to competing in the various national tournaments and representing the country. in international events, such as the upcoming Bogotá 2023 Youth Parapan American Games.

The president of the FDPTM, Marisol Espineira, highlighted the importance of supporting table tennis para athletes because it is vital that this discipline can reach everyone without distinction in order to form a team, which is the objective.

“We are encouraging paraathletes of all ages -especially those of an early age- to be able to start table tennis in a comfortable place like the National Stadium room, which we remodeled this year in its entirety, implementing it with equipment, flooring first class synthetic lighting and, above all, making it inclusive and accessible to all, adapting ramps and dressing rooms for players and the public with disabilities”, Espineira commented.

For her part, the Olympic paraathlete Dunia Flores, who is a representative of the Paramas association, stressed that the alliance with the FDPTM contributed to the improvement of training because it is an accessible place.

“Having adequate spaces to train with people with some type of disability has raised the performance of our paraathletes to the point that many have already competed in national events and in an international championship in Chiclayo. We are achieving our goals thanks to this alliance which promotes and gives opportunities to people with disabilities to perform physical activity, recreational and competitive sports”, sentenced Dunia Felices, president of the Paramás association.

Currently, the Paramás association holds training sessions at the headquarters of the Peruvian Table Tennis Sports Federation at the National Stadium (Gate 10-A) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m.
