The Department of Yvelines promotes the Olympic and Paralympic Games at the national velodrome

In 2024, during Olympics and Paralympics (JOP), them Yvelines will host ten disciplines spread over five sites.

In order to promote the events that will take place on its territory, the Department is launching DestYnation 2024a festive, family and free event to be held on Saturday, October 1, at national velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Throughout the day, activities and festivities will be offered to the public to live the Olympic experience. DestYnation 2024 aims to allow the public to become an actor of the JOP by practicing and discovering many sports.

Animations and demonstrations

On the program of this event led by the Department, a wide range of free activities and demonstrations around the JOP will be offered. Among them: baptisms on the track and BMX, the discovery of para-sport, workshops and initiations (judo, boxing, rowing, fencing, disabled sports, table tennis, taekwondo, handball, breakdance, badminton, golf, laser run, etc.) , pony rides etc.

A cycle ride

A cycle ride to promote the cycling events that will take place in the department is also on the program for this Saturday, October 1st.
From 12:30 p.m., hundreds of cyclists, whether novices or professionals, will be invited to set off for one of the 4 cycling routes (from 15 to 90 km) offered for the occasion.
While the toughest routes (70 and 90 km) will be on the roads of the Chevreuse Valley, two other routes without difficulty (22 and 15 km), and mostly on soft roads, will be offered and will allow participants to visit the various Olympic and Paralympic sites selected in the Yvelines.

Meeting with top athletes

DesYnation 2024 will also be an opportunity for the public present to meet Olympic and high-level athletes such as: Florian Grengbo and Alex Portal, respectively Olympic medalist in track cycling and Paralympic medalist in disabled swimming at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Paola Soares Da Silva, vice-champion of Île-de-France in breakdance, Rima Ayadi, French boxing champion and WBA continental champion (super-feather), Jeanne Lepêcheur, member of the French team of handbike, Alice and Valentine Rieb, champion and vice-champion of France in artistic cycling, Kévin Meyer, BMX Flat rider and winner of the FISE Montpellier Master 2015, Cécile Saboureau, para-triathlete… But also other high-level amateur athletes supported by the Department.
