Spain: Tebas threatens with an XXL strike against the Super League! – Soccer

Furious over a new law allowing Spanish clubs to participate in the Super League and the national championship, La Liga president Javier Tebas threatens a strike in Iberian football. The leader has convened an extraordinary meeting on October 27.

Javier Tebas is ready to strike.

It is no secret that the Super League project, despite the huge failure experienced in April 2021, is still supported by Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin in particular to challenge the monopoly of UEFA.

And in Spain, the president of La Liga Javier Tebas, totally opposed to this idea, intends to fight at all levels…

The threat of a strike to influence a law

Indeed, the Spanish leader is furious with a new law from the Spanish government on sports which allows clubs to participate in this possible dissident competition but also in the national championship at the same time. In response, Tebas called an extraordinary assembly on October 27 with the clubs of the two first divisions, according to information from Cadena COPE on Thursday.

And on the table, the boss of La Liga intends to brandish a very serious threat: a strike by Iberian football if the government does not modify this law. Thus, LaLiga Santander Matchday 12 and LaLiga Smartbank Matchday 13, scheduled from October 28, may not be played. A blow of XXL pressure on the political sphere.

And if Tebas wishes to fight against the Super League, he also makes this move to protect the interests of La Liga. Why ? Because the 60-year-old man and several Spanish formations are afraid that the agreement with CVC, which brought in 2.7 billion euros, will be called into question by the investment fund if this law remains as it is. … Suffice to say that La Liga is potentially very big!
