Six-month suspended prison sentence required for Paralympic champion Nicolas Peifer for sexual harassment

Nicolas Peifer (32) appeared on Monday at the hearing in Sarreguemines, his hometown, for acts of “sexual proposal made to a minor under the age of 15 by electronic means”reclassified as “sexual harassment” by the prosecution, said his lawyer Me Martial Gagneux, joined by AFP.

During the closed hearing, Nicolas Peifer “brought to justice all the explanations he felt he had to provide”, said his lawyer. According to the latter, “He has not committed any criminal offense because he has never made the slightest sexual proposal to a girl under the age of 15”. The lawyer nevertheless acknowledged “exchanges of messages” between his client and the victim (civil party to the trial) between 2016 and 2018.

Six months in prison with suspension are therefore required against the double Paralympic wheelchair tennis champion in London and Tokyo, who will still have to wait to know the court decision because the judgment has been reserved for December 5.
