Saint-Etienne-de-Tulmont. The 20 candles of the Volant stéphanois badminton

Twenty years already since the Volant stéphanois badminton was created by a small group of amateurs, some of whom are still active in the club: Joël Lahoreau, who was its first president, again elected for the current term; Sébastien Adenier, member of the office, and Éric Gélin, current vice-president, also president of the departmental committee.

The VSB is one of the 8 clubs of Tarn-et-Garonne affiliated to the French Badminton Federation. Far from the clichés of beach sports, its indoor practice develops reflexes, spatial perception, flexibility, endurance and balance. The last two years have been difficult for the club which has seen a significant drop in its squad, but the new season’s post-Covid-19 recovery looks promising.

The first youth departmental circuit

More than 80 members have joined the club, half of them young people, in roughly equal numbers of girls and boys. The club is looking for a coach, a position currently occupied by volunteers with young people on Friday evenings. Free play is practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as Sunday morning. Like every year, the Volant stéphanois opens the ball of tournaments with the first youth departmental circuit before Montauban, Caussade and Verdun-sur-Garonne. See you on Saturday, November 19 at 8 a.m., at the gymnasium. To celebrate the return to the field and his birthday, the VSB offered a flocked t-shirt with his first name to each of his players.

As at every event, on the sidelines of the mini-tournament open to families, a gourmet brunch awaited the participants at the edge of the grounds. Beyond the common passion for badminton, there are the values that have been those of the VSB for twenty years: supporting everyone in their progress with fair play and good humor.

Keep up to date with the club on its Facebook page.
