All lists are hateful, unfair, unpopular. Even if they are made by those who wrote history on the soccer fields.
Surely Ronaldo Nazario knew this when, in an interview with The Guardian newspaper, he was asked which were, for him, the best in history.
“I think there is a very, very special group where you have Maradona, Messi, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Pele, Van Basten, Ronaldinho,” he said. And the controversy arose.
The former Real Madrid, Inter, FC Barcelona and Ajax player, among others, left out Cristiano Ronaldo even though he is the top scorer in football history. Did he forget it or did he deliberately leave it out?
As a consolation, Ronaldo Nazario himself, whom Benzema recognized as his great idol upon receiving the Ballon d’Or, was also left out of the list: “I would include myself.
