Rennes sinks its head underwater in Nantes

The Rennais dominated the Nantes this Sunday (2-0) on the occasion of the 10th day.

Stade Rennais won a major success this Sunday at home against Nantes (3-0) on behalf of the 10th day of Ligue 1. A success that the players of Ille-et-Vilaine owe to goals signed Gouiri ( 26th), Terrier (80th) and Gifted (84th). Note that Rennes, now 6th, finished at ten with the expulsion of Rondon in the 89th minute. For its part, Nantes slips to 19th place.

Nantes started the match well with heavy pressing and got a few chances but it was Rennes who were going to be the most dangerous. Kalimuendo strikes well to the left of the area and serves Gouiri perfectly at the penalty spot who controls then shoots low to the ground. His ball is narrowly deflected for a corner (5e). Rennes’ domination will become more and more intense and the Canaries will eventually give in.

Just before the penalty area in the middle, Terrier shifts Kalimuendo to the right who crosses towards Amine Gouiri. The ball is slightly blocked by Pallois but arrives at the striker who places a header at the near post. Lafont can’t do anything (26e). The Rennais will push to score the goal of the break. Bourigeaud is found on the right and has time to cross. He decides to send a ball back but it is countered by Chirivella. A deviation that happens in the race of Gouiri which grazes the ball. It passes right next to the right post of Lafont (40e). Five minutes later, Gouiri crosses from the right at the far post for Terrier who beats Appiah and slams a powerful header which passes just next to Lafont’s right post. The score will not move until the break.

Last ten minutes of madness

The Rennais will lower the intensity in the second half and create a false rhythm. Nantes does not take advantage of this and will even be surprised a few times. The first opportunity of this second period will come quite late. Amine Gouiri accelerates in the axis of the field and serves Bourigeaud on the right. This last center back for Terrier, all alone, who strikes. But Pallois pops up and deflects the ball for a corner at the last second (72e).

The match will come alive in the last ten minutes. Amine Gouiri is found by Majer and serves perfectly in depth Martin Terrier, who full of composure wins his duel against Lafont. The French striker shelters Stade Rennais (80th). Four minutes later, Désiré Doué, who had just entered the game, drove the point home. After a superb collective movement, Terrier is found on the left and centers at the far post in the penalty area. The 17-year-old controls from the right and sends a wonderful shot from the left into the top corner of Lafont. Wonderful. Only concern of the evening for Rennes, the expulsion of Rodon for a foul as the last defender on Mohamed (89th).
