Nevertheless, the aesthetics and beauty of the white sport makes the catches iconic to be framed in the parties.
Regina Cortina is a Mexican photographer what has traveled almost all over the world whole thanks to tennis, managed to combine his two passions to turn them into a lifestyle that allows you to be in the most prestigious events on the planet.
“Photography has always been, my dad always liked the picturenormal, and for my first communion they gave me a camera and from there I always traveled with a camera, in tennis I started with a Morelos Challenger in 2017“, he commented.
Since then, has been present at los Mexican ATP, WTA and Challenger events that have beenbut also in the Grand Slams including his favourite, the Australian Open.
“I don’t have one that is The best experiencebut I feel that the four Grand Slams They were the ones that marked me the most, there is always something important in each Grand Slam, there is always something different, there is always something that marks you,” he shared.
So as in any sport, nothing is written nor planned, so the precision and fortune of being at the right time to take a picture It is a virtue that one must work.
Y in tennis, aesthetics is part of what makes captured moments last forevereither because of the shot that is caught or the moment.
“All shots are different, but la willyas it hardly happens, is the most surprisingI like them all, but the willy is the one that hardly comes out and that it comes out well is difficult because you are almost never in the angleif you’re at the right angle, the willy is the best there is,” he said.
Also, Regina can boast that she has lived closely an important present for Mexican tenniswhere stand out on the tour Giuliana Olmos, Santiago González, Fernanda Contreras and more who have made it to the main draw from recent Majors.
Nevertheless, his work has not gone unnoticed on the professional tourbecause there are many players who admire his work.
“There are several that I can already say that I work with them that are great, we work together with Christian Garín or Madison Keys and there are already some who recognize me for work or Instagram.
“It has been a lot of work to make myself knownr, many times they know my work and after they see my accreditation they say ‘Ah, you’re Regina Cortina’, that is, they see me, but they don’t know who I am until they see the name and associate the person, “he confessed.
On the current level of Mexican tennis, the Mexican photographer talks about how the Aztec rackets have managed to be where they are because of their own work.
“There has never been the support, right now everyone is growing from Hans, Fer and Giuliana which is top seven.
“Nothing has been achieved by the Federationall it was by themselves And I think it’s important to recognize that they’re doing everything on their own merits,” he stressed.
Finally highlighted that today there is more talent than compared to years ago and it is something that must be appreciated and also worked on.
“In 2017 there was only Santiago in the main draws, and right now we have five in a Grand Slam It’s the best thing that could happen to us as Mexicans, Historically, it hasn’t happened to us for about 50 years.seeing it and being there to photograph it is something impressive” he concluded.
Regina hopes to continue capturing tennis history on camera and is eager to continue exploring corners of the world such as Monte Carlo, Gstaad and Bastad, to name a few.
