Rachidatou Bilogo and Ousmane Ouédraogo crowned champions

the 3th edition of the Badminton Cup of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Burkina Faso reached its apotheosis this Sunday, October 23, 2022, in the martial arts hall of the Institute of Sports Sciences and Human Development (ISSDH). In this year, Rachidatou Bilogo and Ousmane Ouédraogo were crowned champions and left with a motorcycle each.

Several gadgets including two motorcycles to be won. These were the prizes at stake at the Chinese Embassy Badminton Cup contested this Sunday, October 23, 2022, in Ouagadougou. At this cup, 104 batistes from 8 regions of Burkina, including 41 girls and 63 boys took part.

In the end, it was Rachidatou Bilogo for the girls and Ousmane Ouédraogo for the boys who were champions. Among the girls, Rachidatou Bilogo was opposed to Kadidiatou Diallo, the defending champion. A meeting which was announced very close but which ended after two sets by the victory of Rachidatou Bilogo. Final score (21 to 12) in the first set and (23 to 21) in the second set so 2 sets to 0 for Rachidatou.

“I am really happy to win this award. This award I can say, I owe it to training even if Kadidiatou was not unworthy. It is truly an honor to win this competition,” indicated the 2022 winner. In men, the meeting opposed Ousmane Ouédraogo defending champion to Fatao Tapsoba.

There, although outstripped in the first moments, Ousmane Ouédraogo ended up coming back to score and winning the first set (21 to 18). In the second set, Ousmane gave his opponent no chance by winning the set (21 to 14) thereby winning the match (2 sets to 0).

“This cup has made it possible since its creation to raise the level of our cambric players both nationally and internationally. This also allowed us to win two bronze medals,” greeted the President of the Burkinabè Badminton Federation, Dr. Boukaré Ouédraogo.

To the representative of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Wen Wen to indicate: “The Chinese Embassy has always worked to promote this sport in Burkina Faso. We are really happy with the result and hope to continue with this cooperation at the level of Burkinabe sport. I hope in the future that we will have even more collaboration with the federation”.

Badminton, as a reminder, has been part of the Olympic Games since 1992. The two winners of this edition left, in addition to trophies and medals with two motorcycles. Abdoul Fatao Tapsoba 2th (boy) returned with an envelope of 50,000 CFA francs plus a medal. Same gain for the second lady Kadidiatou Diallo.
