Los San Diego Padres They defeated the New York Mets this Sunday (6-0), thanks to the great pitching work of Joe Musgrove and a timely offense, and advanced to the National League Division Series.

In a “do-or-die game,” Musgrove pitched seven innings of one hit, one walk and five strikeouts.

The stellar right-hander, who has a No-Hitter in his record, threw 86 pitches, 59 of them in the strike zone, after facing 23 batters.

Musgrove was checked by the referees at one point to see if he was using a banned substance, as the red color of his ears was not normal.

On offense, Austin Nola hit a two-run single in the second inning. Two innings later, Trent Grisham, who posted a great postseason series, added another with an RBI hit.

Dominican Manny Machado, the player most hated by Major League fans, extended the advantage in the fifth leg and in the eighth episode Juan Soto gave the final blow with an unstoppable hit that produced two more.

The Venezuelan Robert Suárez, with meteoric fastballs over 100 miles per hour, and Josh Hader were in charge of leaving the metropolitan troop without options.

With this important victory at Citi Field, the Padres achieved the second victory of the Wild Card Series that gives them a pass to the next phase, in which they will have to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
