NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Strong NFC East

After what happened in week 4 of the 2022 NFL Season we have new Power Rankings NFLnow for week 6.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Record: 5-0

Previous week: 1 (=)

Yeah, with any luck, but the Eagles are still undefeated in the 2022 NFL Season. Mind you, they look less impressive than they did earlier in the season, where they were a bit more dominant.

2. Buffalo Bills

Record: 4-1

Position previous week: 2 (=)

This team didn’t have any kind of problem beating the Steelers, and now comes a real litmus test for them: defeating the Kansas City Chiefs. The top of our NFL Power Rankings could be on the line in this game.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Record: 4-1

Previous week: 3 (=)

After the scare they received at the beginning of the game against the Raiders, the Chiefs recovered and managed to maintain control of their division. That yes, that 17-0 from the beginning remains as a sign that they can have quite bad moments.

4. Dallas Cowboys

Record: 4-1

Previous week: 7 (+3)

Regardless of who their quarterback is, the Cowboys are winning games with a simple but effective formula: run the ball and defend very well. That will be enough to keep winning games this season.

5. Baltimore Ravens

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 12 (+7)

Whenever we talk about dominant players we should mention Justin Tucker, who is way above the rest of his peers right now. Or how he prefers to see it, he is a “system kicker”.

6. San Francisco 49ers

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 9 (+3)

The bad news for the 49ers is that they continue to struggle with injuries, and at a rate of 2 or 3 key players injured per game, it won’t be easy for them to keep winning games.

7. Green Bay Packers

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 4 (-3)

Between the narrow win against the Patriots and the loss to the Giants, this team has lost a lot of shine quickly. They are good, but at the moment they are not considered one of the great rivals in the league.

8. Tennessee Titans

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 10 (+2)

The game against Washington was much more complicated than expected, but they got the victory and, due to the way their division is taking place, they are heading to take control of the group.

The best teams in the NFL Power Rankings from place 9 to 16:

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 11 (-2)

The Buccaneers don’t look like the dominant team we’d hoped for, especially against division rivals. Mind you, Tom Brady found that Leonard Fournette could be a highly viable option in the passing game, if injuries and coverage give him no other options.

10. Miami Dolphins

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 5 (-5)

Tua’s absence was made even more conspicuous when Teddy Bridgewater also had to leave due to concussion protocol. With the third QB it is much more difficult to win, and this team entered a rut that will take some time to overcome.

11. Los Angeles Rams

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 6 (-5)

The three losses of the Rams in 2022 have been total dominance of the rival: they lost 31-10 with the Bills, 24-9 with the 49ers and 22-10 with the Cowboys. It appears that the reigning NFL champions are not the machine that many thought they might be.

12. New York Giants

Record: 4-1

Previous week: 15 (+3)

Although Brian Daboll is known for his offensive mentality, the Giants’ biggest accomplishment was shutting out Green Bay’s offense in the second half of the game. And as long as the Giants keep up that good pace, Daboll should be racking up votes for Coach of the Year.

13. Los Angeles Chargers

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 13 (=)

This come-from-behind win, coupled with a possible win at Denver, could give the Chargers the push they need to turn around the inconsistent season they’ve had so far. Of course, what does not seem to change is Brandon Staley’s aggressive style when playing fourth chances.

14. Cincinnati Bengals

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 8 (-6)

The more the season goes on, the clearer it is that this team is going to have a lot of trouble getting to the postseason. Of course, they are far from the team they were until 2020, so, at least, they have that in their favor.

15. Minnesota Vikings

Record: 4-1

Previous week: 16 (+1)

Minnesota has already had its three home division games and they made the most of them, winning all of them. With that 3-0 lead in the division, the Vikings must now keep up the pace to stay atop the NFC North.

16. Arizona Cardinals

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 14 (=)

Kyler Murray is a good QB, there’s no doubt about that, and his ability to run the ball is a major weapon. The problem is that on the final drive he made a couple of bad decisions: sliding before he had reached the first-and-10 line and then whipping the ball without checking to see if he had been given the first down. That ended up forcing the long field goal.

Our NFL Power Rankings with teams from 17 to 24:

17. New England Patriots

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 21 (+4)

It will be very interesting to see how Patriots fans react if Mac Jones starts to struggle in his return, as Bailey Zappe cast reasonable doubt.

18. Cleveland Browns

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 19 (-1)

The Browns came into the season with a mission: try to stay in the “math fight” until Deshaun Watson can play. For now, they’re getting there, so in theory, things are going according to plan in Cleveland.

19. Jacksonville Jaguars

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 17 (-2)

Just when we were ready to jump on the Jaguars bandwagon comes this game against the Texans. The good news is that they are now up against the Colts, a team that seems hopeless when it comes to the Jags.

20. New York Jets

Record: 3-2

Previous week: 28 (+8)

We are in week 5 and the Jets have a winning record. It seems that, now, things are beginning to improve for Gang Green and Robert Saleh. We’ll see if they can keep up the good pace.

21. Atlanta Falcons

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 23 (+2)

The worst thing for the Falcons is that if they hadn’t suffered the terrible punishment they were given at the end they could have defeated the Bucs. We will see if they have the ability to put that behind them, because they are having a much better season than expected.

22. Indianapolis Colts

Record: 2-2-1

Previous week: 24 (+2)

The Colts are the team that best represents their brand: they can put on a really good game against the Chiefs and then put on a terrible game against the Broncos. Totally balanced, like his 2-2-1.

23. New Orleans Saints

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 27 (+4)

Somehow, the Saints are still moving through the season, and it looks like they’ll be one of the teams in the NFC wild-card race, if nothing else.

24. Seattle Seahawks

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 25 (+1)

The story to watch this year in Seattle is the tremendous rise of Geno Smith as the team’s starting QB. If nothing else, he’s taken fans off their minds about what it would have been like with Russell Wilson.

The worst teams in our NFL Power Rankings:

25. Denver Broncos

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 18 (-7)

If there is a misleading record, it is the 2-3 of the Broncos. Watching them play, it is clear that they could well go 0-5, since the playcalling Nathaniel Hackett’s play leaves a lot to be desired, and on top of that is the level at which Russell Wilson has been playing.

26. Detroit Lions

Record: 1-4

Previous week: 20 (-6)

As I said in my monday columnIt’s time to let go hype with the Lions. The impetus of Hard Knocks there is no more.

27. Pittsburgh Steelers

Record: 1-4

Previous week: 22 (-5)

It’s clear that Kenny Pickett can’t do it all, especially covering opposing receivers. The defense is going through a lot of trouble and there are no easy moments in sight anytime soon as they now face Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.

28. Chicago Bears

Record: 2-3

Previous week: 29 (+1)

To its credit, they made up a lot of ground against the Vikings and are generally performing well for their level of talent. What’s more, right now, 3-3 looks doable with the Commanders visiting on Thursday.

29. Las Vegas Raiders

Record: 1-4

Previous week: 26 (-3)

Josh McDaniels continues to have problems as a head coach: in addition to letting go of a 17-0 run, he decided to play a two-point conversion when he could have tied the game. The bad decisions keep piling up.

30. Houston Texans

Record: 1-3-1

Previous week: 32 (+2)

OK, the Texans already won and shake off the ghost of 0-16 (or 0-16-1, to be more precise). Now it remains to be seen how long it will take them to win the next match.

31. Washington Commanders

Record: 1-4

Previous week: 30 (-1)

When Ron Rivera pointed to QB as the reason his team is so far behind in the NFC East, he forgot that, right now, the Giants have Daniel Jones and the Cowboys have Cooper Rush. It would not be unusual for Washington to soon decide that the reason for the losses is more the head coach.

32. Carolina Panthers

Record: 1-4

Previous week: 31 (-1)

During the Matt Rhule era, the Panthers went 1-27 in games where the opponent scored 17 or more points. For reference, the 3 teams with the fewest points scored in the season until week 4 were hovering around 17 points per game.

These are our NFL Power Rankings for week 6 of this 2022 Season. What changes would you make? We await your comments under this article and on our social networks.
