NFL: Day-to-day quarterback Russell Wilson (rear thigh)

Russell Wilson is a case to be assessed on a day-to-day basis, following a back thigh injury.

A week after being treated for an injury near his right shoulder, the Denver Broncos quarterback was injured again Monday in the final quarter of a 19-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Coach Nathaniel Hackett confirmed that Wilson underwent an MRI test on Monday, without offering details.

“We are still evaluating the results,” Hackett said.

Sunday at home against the Jets, the Broncos may have to turn to Brett Rypien, whose only career start came in 2020 (a 37-28 win over the Jets at the Meadowlands). Or to Josh Johnson, who has started only nine career games in 11 years in the NFL.

Hackett wouldn’t say if he thinks Wilson will miss practice this week.

He did not miss such sessions last week, after an injection to relieve discomfort near his right shoulder.

“Russell is going to do everything he can to play,” Hackett said. We still have to make sure he’s good enough to play at a high level. Whether it’s ‘Ryp’ or Josh, we’ll try to have a plan that will lead them to success. »

The Broncos (2-4) have lost their last three games, including the last two in overtime.

The Jets (4-2) have won their last three meetings.
