As in many sports, even in basketball and the NBA there is a habit of collect the players’ shirts that have marked the history of a franchise.
The moment of the withdrawal of the number is one of the most touching, moving and important moments in the NBA. Here are a few curiosity linked to the numbers withdrawn from some NBA franchises.
- i Miami Heat they withdrew the number 23 in honor of Michael Jordan despite the fact that he has never played for the franchise. They are not the only ones to have done: in 2020, even the Mavs have decided to withdraw the number 24 in honor of Kobe Bryant;
- two teams have withdrawn the same number twice: i New York Knicks they withdrew the number 15 twice, once in honor of Earl Monroe and one in honor of Dick McGuire; i Portland Trail Blazers have twice withdrawn the number 30once in honor of Terry Potter and one in honor of Bob Gross;
- Kobe Bryant is the only player to have two numbers withdrawn: l’8 ed il 24;
- Clyde Drexler saw his number, 22, withdrawn by both the Portland Trail Balzers and the Houston Rockets, despite having only spent three seasons in Texas;
- I Pelicans they picked up the number 7 tank top of Pete Maravich despite this he never played with the Pelicans: in fact he played for the New Orleans Jazz;
- the Orlando Magic e Sacramento Kings they withdrew the number 6 in honor of the fans, considered the sixth man on the pitch for encouragement.
