NBA – First victory for the Lakers – Kleber beats Wagner

Cologne (SID) – After their false start, the Los Angeles Lakers got their first win of the season in the professional basketball league NBA at the sixth attempt. The record champions beat the Denver Nuggets 121:110, superstar LeBron James was the top scorer of the evening with 26 points. Anthony Davis hit a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds.

The Lakers, the only team without a win in the league until Sunday, improved to 5-1 and gave up the Red Lantern in the West to the Houston Rockets (6-1). “We needed that,” Davis said, “for our team, our mood, our fans, our organization.” Only for the third time in club history did the Lakers start with five consecutive defeats.
