Kuo Kuan Lin and Tomoka Miyazaki, World Junior Badminton Champions

Zuloaga collects the distinction awarded to the Government for the institutional collaboration with this tournament

SANTANDER, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Kuo Kuan Lin, from Taipei, in the men’s category, and Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki, in the women’s category, were proclaimed champions of the Junior Badminton World this Sunday by winning this competition which, since October 17, has brought together nearly 900 athletes in Santander from 37 countries.

In the men’s doubles category, victory went to the Chinese couple Xu Hua Yu and Zhu Yi Jun, while in women’s doubles the winners were the Chinese couple made up of Liu Sheng Shu and Wang Ting Ge. In mixed doubles, the Chinese Zhu Yi Jun and Liu Sheng Shu have won.

Since last October 17, the Santander Sports Palace has hosted the World Junior Badminton Championship, which has brought together the best male and female players in this category, who have competed in team and individual modalities.

Organized by the Spanish and Cantabrian Badminton Federations, with the collaboration of the Government of Cantabria, the Santander City Council and the Higher Sports Council, the team competition was held in the first week of this tournament where Korea won final.

This event has had a direct economic impact estimated at nearly two million euros, to which is added the indirect return with the international repercussion of the image of Santander and Cantabria, especially in the Asian market, through the retransmission of the parties, the Government has informed.

Precisely, the vice president and councilor for Universities, Equality, Culture and Sports, Pablo Zuloaga, has collected the distinction that the organization of the Championship has given to the regional government for the institutional collaboration with this tournament.

The representative of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Conchi Bellorín; the councilor for Innovation, Contracting and Sports of the Santander City Council, Felipe Pérez; the president of the Spanish Badminton Federation, Andoni Azurmendi; the president of the Cantabrian Badminton Federation, Marisa Pérez de la Torre; Yonex Chairman Ben Yoneyama; and the director of the events area of ​​the Spanish Federation and director of the tournament, Alberto Prada.

Subsequently, the vice president has attended the individual finals of the Championship, which have ended with the victory of Kuo Kuan Lin and Tomoka Miyazaki.
