More than 700 students from Greater Concepción will participate in the Virginio Gómez Interscholastic 2022

More than 50 teams, belonging to 32 educational and training establishments in Greater Concepción will meet in the Interscholastic Virginio Gómez 2022. This tournament of sports competitions in the disciplines of basketball and soccer, both for women and men, was designed by the university with the aim of promoting the talents and qualities of those who will be the next leaders of the region and the country.

It all starts this Sunday with the basketball, which will also have dates on Sunday 16 and Saturday 29 October, at the Lord Cochrane. In the case of footbolitowill take place at the Campanil UdeC complex, on October 23 and 30.

The activity, framed in the Institutional Plan of the Direction of Linkage with the Environment of the IPVG, seeks to encourage the meeting of 3rd and 4th grade students from different establishments, beyond what is purely academic. That’s how he recognized it Francisco Bustos, a member of the Colegio Galvarino basketball team, who was enthusiastic about the competition. “Today we learned that we will have to play with the Almondale (school), and our expectations of healthy competition and being able to win are good,” he said.

Rolando Hernández Mellado, rector of the Virginio Gómez Professional Institute, He pointed out that “this initiative is not only essential for sports purposes, which is what we are looking for, or for linking purposes, but it goes further, also promoting the intergenerational fabric that, I think, is essential for us as a country. You will be able to acquire some experiences through this meeting, you will be able to get to know us and yourselves, which is essential for your future training, since recognizing your own limits helps you make more accurate decisions”.

The 2022 Virginio Gómez Interscholastics are in charge of Sports Management Advisor Ian Mac-Niven, a former professional soccer player, who is also promoting the new careers in the sports area of ​​the Virginio Gómez Professional Institute that will be part of his 2023 admission: TNS in Sports Management and TNS Sports Trainer, which are added to the academic offer of the institute of the University of Concepción.
