Miguel Cabrera finally made his decision towards the Clásico

(Original article from LasMayores.com).-The Tigers slugger, Miguel Cabrera, confirmed on Tuesday his intention to participate in the 2023 World Baseball Classic with Venezuela.

“I am proud to once again represent Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. I am excited to be part of a team that will have the best players who are representing our country in the Major Leagues”, expressed the Venezuelan.

Cabrera has represented his country in all four editions of the event, including the 2009 version, when Venezuela finished in third place after falling in the semifinals to South Korea.

However, the two-time AL MVP, 12-time all-star and winner of the Triple Corona 2012, made it clear that he will be willing to assume any role within the national team, given the group of talented youngsters expected to represent Venezuela at the event next March.

“I know it’s been a long time since the last edition of this tournament and the wait is over,” said Cabrera. “However, I am also aware of the high level of players and coaches who will be part of this team, being with them and putting on our shirt again fills me with pride. I’m going to be there with them, lifting them up and helping them in any way. I am going to contribute to the Venezuelan team in any of the roles that the manager decides.”

Cabrera, 39, joins Salvador Pérez, Luis Arraéz, Andrés Giménez and José Altuve, as some of the Venezuelan players who have also confirmed their participation in the event.

Venezuela shares Group D of the World Baseball Classic with Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Israel and a team to be designated. Their first match will be against the ninth team from Quisqueyana on Saturday, March 11 at the loanDepot park in Miami.
