Manchester City: Guardiola warns about his future

Asked about his situation at Manchester City, Josep Guardiola answered journalists about his future. The Spanish coach has set a deadline.

“I don’t think about that for a second”

Time is running out for Joseph Guardiola. The Spanish coach’s contract ends next June with Manchester City. For now, discussions have not yet started between the two parties. Facing the media this Friday, before the poster for the 11th day of the Premier League in Liverpool on Sunday, the 51-year-old technician was invited to take stock of his future. The former manager of FC Barcelona has again kicked in touch, while revealing that the talks will accelerate with his management once the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has started (November 20-December 18). “You know I don’t think about that for a second. We have two or three weeks before the World Cup and it’s an important moment. After that, we’ll have plenty of time to talk about it.”

The Premier League four times

The former Bayern Munich technician has so far enjoyed complete confidence from his leaders, even if it is not excluded that possible future failures will call into question the relationship between the two parties. In office since the summer of 2016, “Pep” has coached Manchester City 365 times in all competitions, for a record of 270 wins, 42 draws and 53 defeats. Under his command, the team based at the Etihad Stadium notably won four English championship titles (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). On the other hand, the Champions League still escapes the partners of Phil Foden. Before the game against the Reds, Manchester City are second in the Premier League with 23 points, one behind Arsenal. In C1, the English are at the top of group G with ten points and have already won their qualification for the round of 16. Last Tuesday, Erling Haaland’s teammates conceded a draw at FC Copenhagen (0-0).
