Timmy Simons Signs Two-Season Contract with Westerlo in the Jupiler Pro League

Timmy Simons (47) will not work for PhD candidate Dender in the Jupiler Pro League, but will work for Westerlo. He signs a contract for two seasons in the Kempen.

It had already been clear for a month that Timmy Simons would return to work in the Jupiler Pro League next season. His club Dender secured a spot in the highest division for the first time since 2009.

However, Simons will not embark on the adventure with the PhD candidate, but will do so with Westerlo. In the Kempen they were looking for a successor for Rik De Mil, who was fired after the soap against KRC Genk. Bart Goor took over as interim coach.

A two-season contract was ready for the 47-year-old Simons in Westerlo. It will be his third assignment as head coach after Zulte Waregem and Dender.

“With Timmy we are bringing in one of the most promising coaches,” says CEO Wim Van Hove proudly.

As a player, Simons had a rich career at Lommel (1998-2000), Club Brugge (2000-2005), the Dutch PSV (2005-2010), the German Nürnberg (2010-2013) and again Club Brugge (2013-2018). As a player he won 7 titles, 4 in Belgium and 3 in the Netherlands.

Simons was guided into Westerlo by “De Mol”.
