Latvian floorball players triumph in the Six Nations Cup tournament

In preparation for the world championship, the Latvian men’s floorball team triumphed in the Six Nations tournament in Germany last weekend, reports the Latvian Floorball Union (LFS). In the decisive game of the tournament, the Latvian national team beat the Norwegian national team 2:0 (1:0, 0:0, 1:0).

On Friday, in the first game of the tournament, Latvian floorball players defeated the Slovakian national team 4:1, but then defeated the Danish national team 8:3. On Saturday, the Latvian national team lost to the home team, the Germans, 2:5 and beat the Polish floorball players 5:3, maintaining their hopes of winning the entire tournament, which they managed to do on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Jānis Salcevičs was recognized as the best player of the decisive match, who saved all 16 opponents’ shots, while Morits Krūmiņš became the top scorer of the tournament, who collected 8 (5+3) points in five games. The Latvian team won the tournament with eight points in five matches. Eight points also for Slovaks, who took second place. The Norwegians ranked third with six points, the Germans also had six points, but only fourth place. The Poles finished in fifth place with two points, while the Danish national team ended the tournament table in sixth position without a win.

In the previous world championship two years ago in Helsinki, the Latvian national team took fifth place. Norway was sixth, Slovakia – seventh, Germany – ninth, Denmark – tenth, and Poland ranked 11th. This year, the world championship will be held in Switzerland from November 5 to 13.
