Latvian basketball fans raise a ruckus in Kaunas. The woman jumps on top of Schmidt

It has already been reported that the 27-year-old Schmidt helped “Zalgiris” win against the Spanish team “Barcelona”, where he spent the previous five seasons, with a productive performance on Thursday.

Lithuanian media 15min.lt reports that after the match, security detained several fans who were wearing the attributes of Latvian basketball fans. Some fans are said to have been handcuffed.

“Welcome to Lithuania! This is stupid!” That’s what one of the fans who was wearing the shirt of Latvian basketball star Kristaps Porzingis shouted.

“One woman ran onto the field and jumped on me. I didn’t understand what was happening,” Schmidt said after the match.

The Latvian basketball player stated that the woman had claimed that she was from Šmit’s hometown of Valmiera. The security guards quickly ordered the woman to leave the square.

“I was happy, everything was fine. I just don’t understand how she got on the field,” Schmidt added.

15,146 spectators watched the game in person, which is the largest attendance at a “Žalgiris” home game since November 8, 2019.

“Žalgiris” won a fierce battle, beating “Barcelona” with the result 73:72 in an exciting end of the game.
