Strasbourg did not make the weight Friday evening, at home against LOSC (0-3), at the start of the eleventh day of Ligue 1.

Accustomed to blowing hot and cold since the curtain rose, Paulo Fonseca’s LOSC had the opportunity to climb back to the bottom of the top 5, from this Friday, before the rest of this 11th day of Ligue 1. For this, the northern club was to confirm its excellent form on the lawn of Strasbourg, which had signed its first success of the season against Angers last week. A mission a priori in the ropes of the Mastiffs, although this team is capable of the best as well as the worst, between its defensive air pockets and its attractive game philosophy.

To bring back three points from Alsace, on a still hostile land, the LOSC had to have the same modus operandi as during the northern derby, which he won last Sunday to inflict his rival Lensois his first defeat. That’s what Paulo Fonseca’s men did. Involved in attitude, diligent in their transmissions, Jonathan David’s teammates put on a successful performance to overcome Racing.

Lille sure of its strength

Fonseca had kept his system in 4-2-3-1 with David lined up alone in the lead. The Canadian was supported by a trio made up of Ounas, Cabella and Bamba. Opposite, Racing approached this match with a largely overhauled eleven. Julien Stéphan had to do without his striker Ajorque, while Gameiro, diminished, took his place alongside Diallo on the front of the Strasbourg attack.

The first act resulted in an intense battle. A disputed balance of power which quickly saw LOSC weave its web in the Strasbourg camp. The pressure gradually increased, to the point that the opener before the break was relentlessly logical, even if it came on a penalty converted without batting an eyelid by Jonathan David (0-1, 42nd).

The Canadian weighed on the front of the attack, materializing the superiority of his team. A LOSC sure of its strength and its circuits. In this configuration, the visitors could have doubled the bet as soon as the same David (58th) returned from the locker room, but it was not until the end of the match to see them put in a final push. And the inevitable David did not tremble to score the goal of the break on a service from Weah (0-2, 76th). The latter again put on his costume as a passer to distill a final offering to Cabella, easy scorer for the 3-0 (0-3, 80th). The score has not changed. Lille is back in sixth place. Strasbourg is not advancing.
