Dusan Vlahovic has temporarily saved the skin of his coach Massimiliano Allegri. The Serb gave Juventus the victory in the city derby against Torino: 0-1. Juve had lost to Milan last week and endured a painful defeat to Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League.
The defeats to Milan and Maccabi Haifa had increased the pressure on Juventus and coach Allegri. But a lackluster first half against city rivals Torino gave the citizen and the Juve supporter little courage.
The match was ultimately decided with one goal. Vlahovic tapped the 0-1 into goal on the edge of offside free standing at the far post. The win brings Juventus to seventh place and should give some confidence.
“I am pleased, especially as it is our first away victory this season,” said Juve coach Allegri. “In our last 5 matches we could only have scored 3 times, so we are not over confident. But the boys have shown their willpower.”
