Join the UNAM Science and Humanities Festival!

The “coolest party” UNAM turns 10 years old breaking barriers and bring the science to people from different generations. With workshops, talks, music and different activities, the organizers of this event seek to awaken a taste for research. This year, the Festival of Sciences and Humanities It will have as its main theme “Science in sports”, so it will reflect on topics to know if your body is ready to play sports, what are the sexual limits of the athletic body and data science, to name a few.

Starting today and until Sunday, October 23, the public will be able to participate in more than 60 talks, workshops y demonstrations face-to-face with the participation of 12 institutions.

“More and more people are attending, they are not just the youths high school and university —which are our target audience—, but entire families who approach science and know it in a different, attractive, close way. The truth is that the investigators and the researchers They have supported us a lot in that sense of managing a language nearby”, explains Carmen López Enríquez, coordinator of the Festival of Sciences and Humanities.

To celebrate these 10 years of history and the 30th birthday universe, science Museum of the UNAM, on Sunday, October 23, at 8:00 a.m., an athletic race of 5 and 10 kilometers will be held in University City. Activity in which you can also participate virtually.

UNAM’s “coolest party” will conclude that same day, at 12:00 p.m., with the “Voices that inspire” event, in which prominent personalities from the fields of science and sports will participate, such as the cyclist Yareli Acevedo; Gerardo Saavedrabadminton player; Andrea Martinezfirst female player in the ONEFA; the mathematician Isabel Hubard Escalera; the geographer Manuel Suarez Lastra and the physical Javier Santaolala.

“Recounting these 10 years of the Festival of Sciences and Humanities, I think we have completely enriched ourselves by addressing both the exact Sciences like the humanities in a single event, in which they converge and create synergy”, highlights López Enríquez.

The coordinator of this event invites teachers to register their entire groups to participate in the talks and workshops and thus obtain a group certificate issued by UNAM.

“We have reached many places in the Republic and other countries, this has been a great challenge that we have achieved by bringing science closer, demonstrating that it is not far away, breaking paradigms and trying to make them fall in love with the sciences”, concludes Carmen.
