Independiente Medellín will have its own women’s team by 2023 | Colombian Soccer | Women’s Football

This Tuesday, October 4, Deportivo Independiente Medellín announced the end of the sports agreement with Formas Intimas and by 2023, the Antioquia red team will begin a training process for women’s soccer. Since 2019, the powerful was linked to the women’s club, who provided players and in turn, the institution provided the token to compete in the Women’s League.

“After 3 years of invaluable learning, a subtitle and participation for the first time in the Copa Libertadores Femenina, this year the DIM FI alliance made between Club Deportivo Formas Íntimas and El Equipo del Pueblo – Deportivo Independiente Medellín will end. Since 2019, both clubs, the dean of Colombian soccer and the most important women’s soccer club in Colombia, have worked hand in hand to represent in the local league,” the Antioquia team detailed in a statement.

In addition, the DIM expressed that “we want to thank Club Deportivo Formas Íntimas for their years working with Deportivo Independiente Medellín in the women’s soccer process of El Poderoso; In particular, we want to acknowledge the commitment of Liliana Zapata, her coaching staff, Marco Antonio Roldán, the administrative team of Formas Íntimas, and Marketing Personal, who gave their best to achieve these achievements. Now, the Powerful will start its own women’s football process, seeking to continue promoting the growth of women in this category.

Although there is still no start date for the 2023 Women’s League, Medellín is already working to find players who can make up that team that will debut in that competition. It is said that Formas Íntimas would make a sports agreement with Atlético Nacional, being the third club in Antioquia with those who work in this way, after FI was with Envigado Fútbol Club in 2017.
