“Detections were set up by Montpellier, I participated in these tests because my father had a friend who worked at the MHSC. I did two detection Wednesdays and the club told me I was taken. I did football school from U7 to U13, then I joined the pre-training center in U14 and U15 before continuing the normal training process. Little by little, I was upgraded, I was called up to the France team until I got my first professional contract. As I was lucky enough to live in Montpellier itself, I was external. Having my family close to me helped me a lot mentally. I felt good on the field. At school and football, I was with my partners, it was not disturbing to come home in the evening. »
On his first pro match at the Parc
“I imagined it at home, at La Mosson, in a full stadium, with a great atmosphere. I imagined it at night, a Saturday evening at 9 p.m., during a big poster. I saw myself decisive in this match and acclaimed by all the supporters at the end. My first finally took place at the Parc des Princes, I entered at the end of the meeting. It’s not bad anyway (smile). It was like a dream. I met players like Neymar and Messi that I have always seen on TV. Finally, I played against them, it was impressive. I made my first assist in Ligue 1, for my first match and my first minutes. I was really happy, it took me a while to realize. It was like in a dream. »
On his idols
“Zinedine Zidane and Andrés Iniesta. I love these two players. Yes, I was two years old when Zidane stopped his career. But my father is also a big fan of Zidane. He showed me his videos, his tapes, his films. I fell in love with him straight away. He plays with both feet, he is elegant, intelligent, he is my example. Currently, I like Pedri, Verratti, and Thiago Alcantara. They are small players, physically frail, but very strong with the ball. »
On his dream of Barça
“I dream of playing for FC Barcelona, it’s my biggest dream. Going from Montpellier to Barcelona would be the best, plus it’s only a three-hour drive away (laughs). More seriously, I still have a lot of steps to go before that. Apart from football, I want to put my family well, that no one lacks anything and that everyone is happy. »
